Africa’s Coffee Renaissance

Now fundraising for our three flagship coffee shops!

Crowns Coffee is building an authentic African specialty coffee brand to support the transformation of the continent's coffee culture while revitalizing its coffee production heritage. Starting in Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire and Nigeria, we are developing a specialty coffee shop chain, vertically-integrated in each country. We are partnering with local entrepreneurs and national coffee authorities.

If you want to invest, explore the business model page. If you want to co-own and manage a café or a mobile coffee bar, we have a variety of formats and very flexible and affordable entry requirements. Explore the coffee shop page.

Our mission

Over 700 million Africans live in urban areas and do not yet have access to a good cup of specialty coffee. Not even when the beans are grown in their own countries.

We aim to drive the renaissance of the coffee sector in each country from farm to cup, to inspire young people to drink (better) coffee and to proudly take on jobs in coffee farming, roasting or baristas, or even become cafe owners.

We want to use the coffee shop culture and quick grab-and-go revenues to strengthen local economies and create a fairer value distribution.

The coffee shop: inspiring, community-focused physical spaces

Crowns Coffee is community-driven. This means that each location, either a coffee shop or a mobile coffee bar, will be designed and tested to fit into the spirit of each neighborhood.

The cafés are first of all spaces to explore local Robusta varieties and international varieties processed in innovative ways. Secondly, our coffee shops strive to be accessible and affordable, adapting to the large variety of neighborhoods in African contexts.

In an increasingly digital and conflictual world, we enable visitors to celebrate physical spaces designed to be inspiring, connecting and culturally defining.

Creating jobs and small businesses to keep value within the countries of origin

In 2025, the specialty coffee market was valued at more than USD 24 billion. This is expected to more than double by 2031, to a market size of above USD 57 billion (Deloitte).
  • Through our local co-ownership model and vertically integrated approach Crowns Coffee empowers local entrepreneurs to take active roles in shaping the future of Africa’s coffee culture. With a small buy-in, local entrepreneurs get a flexible franchise package to build their coffee shops or mobile coffee bars. They then 'wear the Crown', serve amazing coffee in their neighborhood and ensure that retail profits stay in the countries of origin.
  • We develop value chains with close relationships, shared risks and value, and the highest levels of quality and transparency. Farm-level impact is what drives us, starting with a living income for farmers and living wages for workers.
  • As tens of millions of young Africans will discover specialty coffee for the first time in the coming decade, Crowns Coffee will be the partner of choice in making it accessible, exciting and a force of good.
